Dubai, THE UAE, June 05, 2011 - D-Link Middle East & Africa today announced its participation in the World IPv6 Day, a global event meant to boost awareness of the impending transition from IPv4 to IPv6. The World IPv6 Day will give D-Link customers the opportunity to test their IPv6 Ready products at http://ipv6.dlink.com with the support of participating Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
Scheduled for June 8, 2011, the World IPv6 Day is sponsored by the Internet Society (ISOC) to evaluate global readiness for IPv6, an updated version of the protocol system that establishes the Internet. Major Internet-based companies and industry players will enable IPv6 on their websites for 24 hours to test the ability of their networks to handle IPv6 traffic. The goal of this event is to encourage all Internet stakeholders to take the necessary actions to ensure a successful transition to IPv6.
"As a supplier of IPv6 Ready products since 2006, D-Link is eager to participate in the World IPv6 Day to test and evaluate the performance of our IPv6 Ready devices," said Harrison Albert, Regional Sales Director at D-Link Middle East & Africa. "All new D-Link business and consumer products will follow industry standards IPv6 readiness, Harrison continued."
The near exhaustion of IPv4 addresses has contributed to an increased global awareness of the need for IPv6 adoption. As more industry players work together in support of the new protocol on an accelerated timeline, businesses and consumers should prepare their networks for interoperability with IPv6.
By acting together, ISPs, web site operators, operating system manufacturers, and equipment vendors will be able to diagnose and address any problems. If global scalability issues are discovered, vendors and ISPs will then have an expanded dataset that they can use to cooperatively work towards a resolution.
Organizations and individuals interested in taking part in the World IPv6 Day can obtain more information at: http://isoc.org/wp/worldipv6day. Owners of D-Link IPv6 Ready products wishing to participate in the test may follow the steps outlined in Appendix 1.
