SmartBeam™ Technology Improves Coverage, Performance, and Reliability

Dubai, THE UAE, August 24, 2011 - D-Link Middle East & Africa today announced the release of a new media router with SmartBeam™ technology capable of extending transmission coverage and improving overall wireless performance for portable devices. The D-Link DIR-645 Whole Home Router 1000 with SmartBeam™ technology helps consumers to set up a wireless network with extensive coverage ideal for both single and multi-floor environments. It offers users stable performance with wider coverage range and fewer dead spots. SmartBeam™ technology implements a directional antenna to "beam" a boosted signal towards a wireless device, providing considerable performance improvements over conventional wireless routers. It also supports standards-based technology defined by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), which helps users to easily share multimedia content and applications.

"Dead-spots and intermittent performance issues were a common symptom of the previous generation of wireless technologies", said Harrison Albert, Regional Director at D-Link Middle East & Africa. "Even the best home wireless routers were sometimes unable to overcome connection problems caused by thick walls and other common obstructions within the home. Fortunately, D-Link's DIR-645 router with SmartBeam™ technology provides the reliability that users need, making it an ideal companion for the latest generation of high-performance portable devices", Harrison concluded.

The D-Link DIR-645 Whole Home Router 1000 offers consumers:

• Stable connection quality throughout the home
• Extended coverage for longer range and fewer dead spots
• Advanced quality of service (QoS) with better reliability for multimedia applications
• Printer and USB hard drive sharing
• Parental security controls for safe browsing

The D-Link DIR-645 Whole Home Router 1000 with SmartBeam™ Technology implements a built-in, single-band, Wireless-N 300, 6-element directional antenna. It also includes 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB 2.0 with SharePort™ Plus, and WMM. The DIR-645 is the first wireless router in the market to implement SmartBeam™ technology. SmartBeam™ sends a signal directly to a portable device, providing extended wireless coverage throughout a home or office while delivering maximum bandwidth for enhanced multimedia performance.
