The Taiwan-based networking solutions provider plans to expand its Dubai facilities.

D-Link, a major provider of consumer and business-orientated networking products, aims to expand its already considerable presence in the Middle East. The Taiwan-based firm has over 50 distributors in the Middle East and North Africa region.

"The Middle East has been good," said Sakkeer Hussain, D-Link's Sales & Marketing Manager. "We have a facility in Jebel Ali and an office. We are trying to expand the warehouse by another 12,000 square feet and we are making a major investment which will be operational by the end of this year. We are expanding and we are doing good business," he said.

Sakkeer said that the Jebel Ali facility strongly differentiates D-Link from its competitors. He said that the facility represents "...one of the major differences compared with the other networking vendors operating out of the Middle East."

D-Link also demonstrated its latest products at this year's GiTEX Technology show in Dubai.

In 2010, D-Link retained its No.1 position in the small business market based on enterprise Ethernet switch ports shipped with a worldwide market share of 38.5 percent. In the midsize and large enterprise market for that year, D-Link's market share based on ports shipped reached 13.2%, ranking third place worldwide.

In September 2011, D-Link was recognized as one of Taiwan's Top-20 global brands. The annual Top Taiwan Global Brands Survey, organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Interbrand, listed D-Link as number 12, up one place from the previous year. D-Link's brand value rose from US$167 million in 2010 to USD$201 million in 2011, a 20% increase.

According to Interbrand, D-Link strives to live up to its motto "Building Networks for People", with its responsible fiscal policies and trustworthy brand image globally. It said that these factors, coupled with ongoing technical innovation, consistent product quality, and excellent operational efficiency have helped D-Link to maintain stable revenue growth.

The Top Taiwan Global Brands survey is now in its ninth year, using its well-established and straightforward brand valuation methodology to evaluate Taiwan's international companies. This methodology is also applied to the 100 Best Global Brands report published by BusinessWeek.

D-Link was also awarded a 2011 Taiwan Excellence Gold Award for its Boxee Box, which is designed to sit in the living room and connect content such as movies, music and photos from a user's computer or the Internet to their HDTV. The device can deliver such content wirelessly via built-in WiFi.

In addition, D-Link received the 2011 Golden Bridge Award in the "Best New Products and Services" category for information technology hardware for its D-Link(R) DSN-5000 series of iSCSI SAN Arrays [ftp://ftp10.dlink.com/pdfs/products/DSN-5110-10/DSN-5110-10_ds.pdf ]. The Golden Bridge Awards is given to global companies and products for significant industry achievements.
