Dubai, THE UAE, January 12, 2012 -- D-Link Middle East & Africa today introduced its D-Link Cloud product line, marking a groundbreaking commitment to enhance its numerous consumer networking products with fresh and innovative cloud functionality. The new cloud capabilities will result in improved usability and effortless setup for many popular D-Link devices including network cameras, routers, and storage devices. These functions will be made accessible via the mydlink website or mydlink mobile application.
Market research firm Gartner Inc. recently confirmed that the era of the "personal cloud" has arrived. "We're entering a new era of the personal cloud, which is becoming the center of people's digital lives", said Angela McIntyre, in Gartner's October 27th, 2011 webinar titled iPad and Beyond: What the future of computing holds. Subsequently, D-Link foresees that as users become more mobile thanks to expanded wireless connectivity, they need a convenient way to explore their home networks and content from anywhere. D-Link Cloud is D-Link's solution to this need.
"Creative, fun-loving users want to experience the most from their D-Link products," said Roger Kao, D-Link Chairman and CEO. By joining their D-Link devices to the cloud, customers will gain effortless access to an avalanche of valuable features. D-Link Cloud is a great way for anyone to view, control, and share their digital life."
D-Link made an early foray into the cloud in 2009, when its mydlink platform changed the paradigm for network cameras, allowing users to easily access their video feeds remotely. D-Link's mydlink-enabled cameras like the DCS-930L, DCS-932L, DCS-940L, and DCS-942L automatically join themselves to the mydlink platform so that they can be accessed centrally, from anywhere, at any time, without any complex configuration. D-Link Cloud products will feature the same elegant simplicity, providing access to consumer networking devices in a few simple taps or clicks.
In addition to current and next-generation network cameras, some of the first products to receive cloud enhancements will be routers and network attached storage (NAS) devices. Wireless routers such as the DIR-600L, DIR-605L, and DWR-112L will benefit from the ability to manage network users and monitor the security of their network. NVR devices such as the DNR-322L will connect to the mydlink platform for fast and easy access to data files and multimedia, with enhanced remote management.
D-Link unveils the D-Link Cloud initiative in recognition of the evolving consumer networking landscape. "After 25 years of groundbreaking technology and innovation, the D-Link Cloud initiative is D-Link's latest endeavor to drive usability and connectivity in the consumer networking space." said D-Link VP of Marketing Jocelyn Chung. "We are committed to developing cloud networking technologies that will deliver more power and convenience than ever before."
