Tokyo, Feb 22, 2012 - (JCN Newswire - MySolutionInfo) - NEC Corp. announced today the launch of new indoor LTE Femtocell base stations for telecom carriers. The base stations achieve high-speed, high-volume wireless communications in indoor areas such as offices and homes. The new product is available in two models, one designed for enterprise and another for residential customers. The base stations will be available in the second quarter of 2012.

NEC specifically designed the RAN-GW (radio access network gateway) system, which is deployed internationally, to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to LTE, and to help telecom carriers reduce their capital investment spending.

The base stations connect to a telecom carrier's core network through an indoor broadband connection, while the connections between the base stations and terminals occur over LTE. The base stations feature plug-and-play functionality that configures the device simply by connecting it to the broadband line, without the need for any initial settings. The stations automatically control radio wave interference, which ensures high-quality communications and enables users to build high-speed, high-volume communications environments indoors, even when installed amid different networks, such as outdoor LTE base stations.

"NEC has an extensive track record in the Femtocell market, having made agreements with 18 telecom carriers around the world to deliver comprehensive Femtocell systems that include femto gateways, base stations and 39 trials," said Tadatoshi Fujiwara, senior vice president at NEC Europe. "NEC plays a central role as a board member of the Small Cell Forum, a gathering of Femtocell-related telecom carriers and vendors, and for three years running has received awards from the Forum in recognition of its efforts in the field."

NEC will continue to promote femtocell technologies as a major vendor in the field.

These new products will be showcased at the NEC stand, 8A125, Hall 8, at Mobile World Congress 2012, the mobile industry's largest event, held in Barcelona, Spain, from February 27-March 1, 2012.
