LONDON, March 7, 2012/PRNewswire - MySolutionInfo/ -- Following the immense success of the Qatar News Agency (QNA) iPhone app released last week, QNA commissioned KnowledgeView, the leading news app developer in MENA, Europe and Australia, to develop a major upgrade, supporting the iPad and iPhone in one universal application, as well as other features such as support for English-language news, notifications and powerful support for social networks.
Designed to provide Qatar, Gulf and Arab news coverage globally, it uniquely provides real time multi-media news to the public as well as additional news reports to registered users including media subscribers, enterprise and government. The upgrade will be soon submitted to the Apple App Store.
Qatar News Agency (QNA) was established in 1975 to be the first news agency providing comprehensive Gulf news coverage. Since then QNA has invested in advanced technology for digital editorial as well as for news delivery, including video streaming, online publishing, social networks tools and media monitoring.
"Qatar News Agency's vision is about delivering excellence to the various audience groups: excellence in the content and in the medium delivering it. Our native apps are the first step towards the advanced and interactive mobile world and we thank KnowledgeView for the great work and prompt service," Ahmad Saad Al-Boinin, QNA, Director General said.
"In less than a week, we released our iPhone app and placed an order for the iPad app. This is how keen we are to deliver news to our wider audience in Qatar and the diaspora on the latest preferred platforms and benefit from the robust KnowledgeView. This new project will cost QNA staff no effort as KnowledgeView's powerful "Mobile app technology" will push the content from the same editorial system to both our iPhone and iPad apps. We are very happy to cooperate on even more exciting innovative projects with KnowledgeView to add value to our audience and stay on top of technology," Eng. Khalid Mohammed Al-Motawa, Director of Technical Affairs, QNA, said.
The iPad App will further QNA's universal presence and leverage its position as a pioneering news agency in the Arab world and beyond. The iPhone and soon-to-be-released iPad App are powered by "Publish live mobile" server technology from KnowledgeView, seamlessly integrated with QNA's editorial system, thus, enabling QNA to have effortless delivery of news on the Apple iPhone and iPad.
"We are honored to have QNA among our valued partners in the region. Believing in the technology we are developing after years of continuous research cannot be more rewarding. QNA is a role model for progressive news provider that is restlessly determined to add value to its clients from the private and public sectors and we are happy to partner with QNA team to cater to their audience quickly and efficiently on the latest and most sophisticated mobile devices."
