Nawras appoints Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Faleh Al-Thani as Vice Chairman and welcomes new member to the Board of Directors

Muscat, 8 September 2012 - Nawras , Oman's customer friendly communications provider, is delighted to announce that Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Faleh Al-Thani has been named as the new Vice-Chairman. Sheikh Saud Al-Thani replaces Khalid Ibrahim Al Mahmoud who was recently appointed Group Chief Officer, Small and Medium Businesses unit (SMBU) of Qtel Group. The dynamic communications company also welcomed Mohamed Jassim Al Kuwari, who has been appointed as a temporary Board Member until the company's next AGM.

Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al-Thani joined Qtel, the leading telecommunications provider in Qatar, in 1990. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of Qtel and has served on the Nawras Board of Directors since 2008.

Mohamed Jassim Al Kuwari is currently Chief Corporate Services Officer at Qtel. He has been with the company since 2005 undertaking a variety of senior strategic roles that have ensured the company's continued growth through improved support infrastructure and corporate quality and policy in addition to effective HR practices.

Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company SAOG was founded and registered in the Sultanate of Oman in December 2004. It launched its service in March 2005 as the second mobile operator in Oman operating under the name "Nawras". Nawras was awarded the second fixed licence in Oman in 2009, and launched its international gateway in April 2010, its corporate fixed and broadband services in May 2010, and its residential fixed and broadband services in June 2010. Nawras is currently serving more than 2 million mobile customers across the Sultanate.
