ictQATAR confirms the closure of Qtel Virgin Mobile Service in Qatar

According to a Decision issued to Qatar Telecom (Qtel) QSC, all Virgin Mobile-branded services to cease

Doha, Qatar: The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR), the telecommunications regulatory authority in Qatar, has instructed Qtel to close all Qtel Virgin Mobile-branded services in Qatar.

Qtel is required to transfer all existing customers currently on Qtel's Virgin Mobile Service (QVMS) to a similar Qtel service or provide a full cash refund for the value of their QVMS SIM card (QR 35) and any credit balance they have in their account.

Qtel is also required to remove the Virgin Mobile brand from the marketplace.

Qtel will announce the start date for its customer migration/refund program and communicate full details to customers in the next few days. All Virgin Mobile branded SIM cards must be de-activated by August 4, 2011.

Any consumer who has purchased a Qtel Virgin Mobile pre-paid service from Qtel, may contact Qtel Customer Care at the following:

Qtel has a legal obligation to resolve any complaints from customers within 30 days of receiving the complaint. For any inquiries or complaints that have not been resolved by Qtel within the required 30 days, affected consumers may contact ictQATAR at:
