Middle East, February 23, 2012: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has announced two significant advancements in the field of LTE interoperability as the company seeks to continue its lead in the commercial use of IP technologies within the Middle East and across the globe.

Improving the efficiency of network deployment, Huawei has now achieved the world's first successful launch of an Automatic Neighbor Relation (ANR) feature on a commercial LTE network. In the future, mobile networks featuring multiple bands, modes, and layers will experience exponential growth of neighboring cells--making for complicated management of neighbor relations.

Within traditional GSM and UMTS networks, neighbor relations are managed and optimized manually, resulting in huge operation and maintenance costs. As one feature of Huawei's SingleSON solution, the ANR supports automatic management and optimization of neighbor relations for networks that feature multiple modes and layers. This not only improves the efficiency of network deployment but also has the advantage of reducing labor costs while retaining network performance.

The ARN implementation follows the completion of a multi-vendor interoperability test for Huawei's SingleMetro IPv6 solution by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC)--which included Dual Stack (DS) and DS-Lite tests. During the transition tests, Huawei was the only vendor to demonstrate the IPv6 DS-Lite transition solution and the industry-leading Port Control Protocol (PCP) technology.

Huawei leads commercial use of IP technologies with its products and solutions serving leading global telecom operators including BT, Vodafone and Telefonica.
