Cluj-Napoca, Romania, October 17, 2013. IT security vendor CoSoSys now offers its Mobile Device Management solution with full support for iOS 7 and announces support for the new iBeacon technology that offers innovative security features around this very precise proximity and detection technology.
“With the support of iBeacons in all iOS 7 running devices, we can now offer a rich set of new features that help secure and manage devices and data with even greater precision and granularity. iBeacons are not only a great way for apps to deliver location and proximity based product information to users but also to increase security based on location. What was possible outside of buildings with GPS is now possible with great accuracy inside of buildings as well” said CoSoSys CEO, Roman Foeckl.
For a better understanding of the integration of iBeacon with CoSoSys’ MDM solution, Roman Foeckl illustrates the process in a short video: http://youtu.be/XfFhzSFVVc8.
“A company that manages its employees’ fleet of iPhones and iPads ads a number of iBeacons around its R&D Lab where taking pictures is not allowed. In this case Endpoint Protector triggered by the iBeacons will disable the camera feature of the managed iOS device. Another practical example is of an iBeacon carried by a school teacher that will enforce a restriction on all the students’ iPads in the classroom to access only the Wikipedia website and iBooks app while preventing use of other apps such as social networking or games. We are only just beginning to imagine all the new features the iBeacon will allow us to develop, improving data security and device management,” Mr. Foeckl continues.
With the support for iOS 7 and iBeacons the Endpoint Protector Mobile Application Management (MAM) also adds support for iOS Enterprise App Management along with the known functionalities supported for previous iOS versions that include Tracking & Locating, Remote Block, Remote Wipe, Password Enforcement, App Monitoring and support for Apple Volume Purchase Program and many other features. The EPP MDM app on iTunes used to communicate with the Endpoint Protector Server (or My Endpoint Protector) is also ready for iOS 7, providing localization and enrollment services.
Mobile Device Management from CoSoSys is available as hardware or virtual appliance with Endpoint Protector and also from the cloud with My Endpoint Protector, providing increased flexibility and lower operational costs.
Availability – free for up to 5 mobile devices
